Installation Practices of Measurement Equipment

This course presents an overview of the various flow meters that flow through gas pipelines today,
including ones developed years ago with upgraded materials and components; and the more current
designs that will continue to evolve as technology progresses.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will have received instruction designed to assist him/her in
the following:

  • Describe basic ultrasonic meter operation and explain general installation considerations.
  • Describe basic turbine meter operation and explain general installation considerations.
  • Describe basic orifice meter operation and explain general installation considerations.
  • Describe basic Coriolis meter operation and explain general installation considerations.
  • Describe basic positive displacement meter operation and explain general installation
    considerations.
  • Describe basic gas quality assessment instrumentation and explain installation considerations.
  • Explain installation considerations for secondary and tertiary instrumentation.
